Who Will Rule the World?

Maybe the development of patriarchal societies was a coincidence.

Men have ruled the world for thousands of years and in the last centuries women seem to be taking over. They are doctors, college professors, NASA engineers etc. There are still more men than women in politics, but even that can change. We all know that. What we do not know is, why men have been dominant for so long. There are several scientific theories answering this question, but none of them convincing. I read that in the following book: Yuval Noah Harari: Sapiens. A Brief History of Humankind. London: Vintage Books, 2014, more particularly in the following chapter: There Is No Justice in History, pages 149-178.

After having read the above mentioned chapter, I kept pondering about the big Why? I could not let go. And then it dawned on me that maybe the development of patriarchal societies was a coincidence. And once men were in charge, they used the argument of tradition to stay in charge. One is not likely to give up power, unless one is really forced to do so.

Feminists have been fighting for equality. But the question is: Are men and women ever going to be equal? Sustaining equality takes a lot of effort and patience. It is an ongoing struggle of finding compromise. If one sex is the authority and the other one is submissive, it gets more practical. In my opinion, women will take over and men will become submissive. I wish I were wrong and we would all live in harmony, but I am afraid I am right. After all the historic principle of karma would imply that men have to experience what women have been experiencing for thousands of years.

I would really love to hear your views on that!

Take care,
