People often find similarities in my story, even though they might have a different diagnosis from mine which is schizoaffective disorder. I have recently written the following lines as an answer to an e-mail. I find them interesting for others as well:

Last week I was asked to contribute my ‘bipolar bio’ for a revised edition of Bipolar Disorder for Dummies. Joe Kraynak, one of the authors of the book, wrote to me: ‘We’re currently revising Bipolar Disorder For Dummies and are looking for people to contribute “Bipolar Bio” sidebars.’ It is funny how such e-mails always arrive, when I am losing faith in my project. As mentioned in one of my previous blogs, Joe Kraynak, co-author of ‘Bipolar Disorder for Dummies’, posted his review of my book Balancing the Beast on PsychCentral. Having been reminded again that the expression ‘mental patient’ is offensive I finally took care of my mistake. There are so many self help books on the market. How could mine stand out? I would like to point out maybe one thing. In the 3rd chapter I emphasize that the book will never help anyone just by reading it. It would be like reading the use guidelines for a prescribed medication, but never actually taking the pills. Balancing the Beast will hopefully get you moving, exercising mentally and mildly physically. No sweat no glory. A daily cleaned mind, no worry.
