Wonders of Nature: Remaining Apples

I was taking a walk along my ordinary route and since the hoarfrost had melted away that day due to sunny weather, I expected nothing special. Something told me I should take my camera with me just in case though. So there I was, with a smile on my face, my serotonin levels ‘adjusted’ to the weather change … approaching a bush that seemed like a jukebox at the first glance. Not that it looked like one, but it surely sounded like one. There were numerous sparrows twittering and chirping, at times almost singing, all gathered to cheer up the people passing by, being tired of the foggy...

Wonders of Nature: Frozen Fog

It looked like snow on trees, but it was frozen fog or to name it properly hoarfrost, when I took a stroll the other day. I took some pictures (see the first photo) and then entered the forest close to my home which always offers a new look. Be it a complete makeover or just an interesting new detail, there is always something new, no matter how often I go there. The other day it was a sound most peculiar, something resembling both a drizzle and snowing. Yet at the same time it could have been mistaken for the sound of wood burning in a fireplace. I noticed that the sound was actually coming from...

A New Start

I figure that I cannot write about mental illness all the time. It gets overwhelming. Thus I decided to start a series of blogs on wonders of nature. I got inspired the other day, when I was taking pictures of frozen webs, threads of ice on dry blossoms and green leaves rimmed with ice. I took a walk in a forest near my home and was amazed again, how I always notice something interesting, no matter how often I go there. In addition to that I have noticed that I have fallen in a trap called ‘analysis paralysis’. Self-analysis is a useful way of evolving as a human being, but I also need a break....

The Habit of Observing

The picture left was taken during a walk in an Alpine valley. I noticed some heaps of white stone in the distance and they compelled me to come closer. I stepped off the hiking path and explored the interesting columns of stone that are usually used as path guiding marks in high mountains and are made by mountain hikers or mountaineers. Since this was a valley, they were probably only a decoration. When I came closer, I noticed a column that was completely different from all others (see picture). It was made of only two big stones, of which the upper one was brown. Then I noticed that this horizontal...

A Short Update on My Upcoming Book and More

The last Monday was so exciting for me, that I had to take all week off to calm down. First of all, it was the first working day after one-week-holidays. But most of all, two things happened last Monday, the 17th of January. Firstly, I received the copy of my book at around 2.30 PM. The second thing was a visit to my psychiatrist, scheduled at 4.15 PM. I was somehow expecting the book, but again, not so soon. While preparing the meal, the bell rang. It was DHL service and I knew it was the book. Suddenly, my heart pulse rose. I could not wait, I opened the parcel immediately. Yes, it was the book. In...
