Sing along, fellow women, men and dwarfs

When I am angry, I like to sing rebellious songs, for instance ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra. I find a video on Youtube with lyrics and simply sing along. I dive deeply into the melody, but I am also aware of the words. Which should not come as a surprise, for I am a writer by profession. I feel the lyrics physically in my chest, along with the emotional tunes. Similarly, I listen to sad songs, for example ‘November Rain’ by Guns N’ Roses, when I feel blue. I sing along long enough to come in touch with the pain inside, yet I must be mindful of the moment, when it is time to switch to...

Vivvy and Izzy the Dwarf: A series about relationships

After having heard so many individual stories of couples in numerous personal growth seminars I had taken, one fine day I got the idea to write an inspirational story for couples going through a crisis. It usually starts with a seemingly irrelevant thought. I try to send it away, but it won’t go. It is as if some dark power kept opening a dangerous computer program file. And then the thought grows. Pretty soon it fills the whole working memory in my brain. I can barely squeeze...

Ah, Mistakes!

While some degree of the fear of mistakes is useful and healthy, too much of it can prevent our actions. We might never change things for the better. Or we might never meet new friends for instance. It is true that we can avoid pain by not taking any action and thus omitting mistakes. Yet, the moment we see pain as experience, it might decrease the ‘wrongness’ of a mistake. Of course causing a car accident for instance will always feel wrong. But what about changing a job for example? You earn less at the new job and the change might feel as a mistake. Is it really? Is money everything?...
