Respect Thy Parents

O.K. But there are some limits to this wisdom. Let me give you an example. A true story told to me by a young girl. She: »I do not know how to say No. I try to please everyone, especially my parents. Every two years or so I end up in a locked ward of a psychiatric clinic.« I: »We all have to learn how to say No in certain situations. Even to our parents, who took care of us. Respecting parents has a limit – the limit is the respect for ourselves.« She: »But every time I try to say No, they tell me that I am selfish.« This conversation went on and on and it seemed like she was trying to...

The Age of Aquarius

In my opinion the Age of Aquarius among other things means a shift in our thinking regarding our freedom. In the former millennium the humanity has fought for freedom. However, it was the famous philosopher and writer Jean-Paul Sartre already who anticipated today’s chaos and confusion, when he affirmed that “Freedom was a heavy burden.” In my opinion it is only a matter of a shift in our thinking. In the old days we were set limits from the outside. Today we have to set them ourselves, or else we become exhausted from the immense inflow of information, possibilities and externally inserted...

The Age of Anger

There is so much anger on the planet these days that it is accumulating in what Phyllis Krystal calls a thought form. We only need to get a bit angry at somebody/something and we feel a huge wave of anger all of a sudden. It is because we subconsciously connect to the thought form of anger. What can we do about it? Firstly we can avoid anger. Listening to the news regularly creates unnecessary anger. We can go on-line and choose individual TV shows – for example we can pick only the happy news or the news from our line of work, where we can actually do something about the new happenings. What can I,...

Love Is the Answer

If you have examined your wishes according to my previous blogs, you are probably able to cross some of them out and thus reduce stress in your life. Let me point out two more things about wishes in my last blog this year. Firstly, sometimes one shares a wish with someone else. For example a couple may wish for a child. That is easy. But what if one wants a child and the partner does not want to be a parent. Sometimes time solves such dilemmas, sometimes a coincidence, some couples might even break up. It is a tough case. But there are easier ones too. Let’s take holidays for example. He wants to go...

My True Self

Has my last blog maybe inspired you to write down your wishes and think about them? Do you find you could abandon some wishes in order to reduce stress in your life? Mind your basic needs and your responsibilities towards other people of course. You probably should not cross out your “wish to eat healthy food”, for in my opinion this is our basic need. Similarly you probably should not cross out your wish to be a reliable employee or a reliable employer, for this is our responsibility, not our wish. There is another aspect of wishes next to their number that can be examined. Are those wishes on...
